2011 NFL Football Schedule Methodology
Under the legacy 16 game regular season format, each NFL team plays their three divisional rivals twice in a home/road arrangement. Each team then plays four teams from a division in the opposite conference and one game against each of the teams in a division in the same conference. The final two games are then scheduled against teams in the same conference finishing in the same relative position in the division from the previous season (ie if your team came in second, they would play two of the 2nd place finishers in other divisions in the same conference).
